The Dahlia has fans all over the world and always makes an eye-catching focus in any horticultural show. Following its popularity as a garden plant in Britain during the Victorian period it rapidly became an exhibition flower, as its variety of form and colour as well as impressive scale gave it great drama and made it difficult to beat for showmanship. In this range of 5 designs we have tried to show the variety of shapes in their most appealing colours. There are pompom dahlias, with their symmetrical, formal and precise swirls of petals making an intricate ball of colour and texture. Cactus dahlias with their pointed petals come in grand scale, as do the peony dahlias, which are often named giants. Single and double, giant and dwarf, all varieties of dahlia are shown here in tones of red, yellow pink and white. We have teamed 4 florals with a batik effect design of colour and texture, interpreting the patterns made by the petals, which radiate out from the flower’s heart.
