Born in 1834 William Morris was a Victorian in the true sense of the word as his life spanned all but a few years of Queen Victoria’s reign .He is particularly well known for his extensive work with textiles and wallpapers and during the whole decade from the middle of the 1870’s, all his energies were focused within this field. He produced at least 32 designs for printed fabrics and 21 designs for wallpapers during this period and his productivity was immense. He regarded the home as a spiritual place and believed that good quality design should be all around us in our everyday lives. William Morris designed with a linear exactness and this teamed with the broad sweep of his imagination give his work a very recognisable individuality all of its own, he once said that design should always be based on memory and imagination. How can one not be inspired by such beautiful designs and we have put together a range of 5 patterns, focusing on a variety and contrast of scale and tone. We have used clean pure colours to add depth and richness to all your quilting projects.
