Born in 1834 William Morris was a Victorian in the true sense of the word as his life spanned all but a few years of Queen Victoria’s reign. He is particularly well known for his extensive work with textiles and wallpapers and during the whole decade from the middle of the 1870’s. William Morris designed with a linear exactness and this teamed with the broad sweep of his imagination give his work a very recognisable individuality all of its own, he once said that design should always be based in memory and imagination.Morris Mania is a group of 5 designs printed in 3 colourways. One larger floral works as a feature print and 4 smaller designs complement this in colour and depth. All the designs in this group go together and also work in their own colour groups, as we have shown in our Morris Mania quilt.
