William Morris designed with a linear exactness, and this teamed with the broad sweep of his imagination, gives his work a very recognisable individuality all of its own, he once said that design should always be based on memory and imagination. The eight designs we have picked for you, have been created in two main colourways, brick reds with cool greens and greys with rich golds and brown. The largest scale print includes irises and birds, stylised in Morris’s own particular way and sits perfectly alongside two small simple leaf designs and three stylised small florals. A slightly larger flower and leaf, as well as a design of grapes winding through foliage, complement this group to provide a variety of tones and textures that work well together in colour and harmony.
